How we collect, use, and protect information for everyone who uses QuizTiles.

This Privacy Policy explains how QuizTiles ("QuizTiles," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you visit quiztiles.com, create an account, build or host games, join a game as a player, or otherwise use our services (the "Service"). It applies to all users — visitors, account holders, hosts, educators, and players — regardless of how you sign in.

1. Who We Are

QuizTiles is an online platform for creating and hosting Jeopardy-style trivia games for classrooms, teams, events, and personal use. We are not affiliated with Jeopardy! or Sony Pictures Entertainment.

2. Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you use the Service.

Account holders (hosts / creators)

  • Name, email address, and optional profile photo
  • Password (stored hashed) if you register with email and password
  • Account preferences, plan/subscription status, and settings
  • Games and content you create (categories, questions, answers, media, themes, Final Jeopardy, and related settings)

Players and guests

  • Display name or nickname you enter to join a game
  • Gameplay activity such as buzzes, answers, and scores for that session
  • Technical data needed to keep the live session working (for example connection identifiers)

Players can often join without creating a QuizTiles account. In those cases we collect only what is needed to run that game session.

All visitors

  • Usage data such as pages viewed, referring site, approximate location from IP address, browser/device type, and similar analytics information
  • Cookies and similar technologies used for sessions, security, preferences, and analytics

Payments

If you buy a paid plan, payment card details are handled by our third-party payment processor. We do not store full payment card numbers on QuizTiles servers.

Communications

If you email us or submit a contact form, we receive the message content and contact details you provide so we can respond.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, secure, and improve the Service
  • Create and manage accounts and keep you signed in
  • Host games, share play/buzzer links, and show content you choose to publish
  • Process subscriptions and send transactional or service-related emails
  • Provide support and respond to requests
  • Prevent abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect users
  • Understand how the Service is used so we can improve it
  • Comply with applicable laws

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content to advertise to third parties.

4. Sign-In Options (Including Google)

You may create an account with email and password or with a third-party sign-in provider such as Google. If you choose Google Sign-In, Google shares basic profile information you authorize (typically name, email, and profile photo). We use that information only to create or link your QuizTiles account, sign you in, and display your profile in the Service.

You can revoke QuizTiles access in your Google Account permissions. Revoking access does not automatically delete your QuizTiles account or games — email us if you also want those removed.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you signed in and protect account sessions
  • Remember preferences
  • Measure traffic and improve the product (for example analytics tools)

You can control cookies in your browser. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or other core features from working.

6. When We Share Information

We may share information with:

  • Service providers that help us run QuizTiles (hosting, authentication, analytics, email, and payments), under obligations to protect your data
  • Other users, when you publish a game, share a link, join a live session, or otherwise make profile or game details visible
  • Legal and safety recipients, when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security
  • Business transfers, if QuizTiles is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with continued protection of personal information

7. Public and Shared Content

Games you mark public, list in Explore, or share via play/buzzer links may be visible to others. Player nicknames and scores may be visible to the host and other players during a session. Do not put sensitive personal information in game titles, clues, or display names.

8. How Long We Keep Information

We keep account and content data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. Live session data is generally kept only as long as needed for that game or related support/security needs. We may retain limited records afterward for backups, dispute resolution, security, and legal compliance. When you request deletion, we delete or de-identify personal data except where we must retain it by law.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may be able to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and personal data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Ask for a copy of your data where applicable
  • Opt out of non-essential marketing emails (transactional emails may still be sent)

10. Children and Classrooms

QuizTiles is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 for account registration. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

Teachers, schools, and parents who use QuizTiles in classrooms or with minors are responsible for obtaining any required consents and complying with applicable student-privacy and education laws (such as COPPA, FERPA, or local equivalents).

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, including HTTPS and hashed passwords for email/password accounts. No online service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong unique password and keep your sign-in details private.

12. International Users

QuizTiles is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from another country, your information may be processed in the United States or other places where we or our service providers operate.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
